Can I bring my
dog/cat/pet?
We are all animal lovers, but to prevent any unforeseen conflict
of interest (with our dogs, namely), and to keep our community
areas allergen free, we do not allow guest animals on retreat.
Can I ride the horses?
All of our horses are young and in training. At this time guests
are not permitted to ride them, however any of our horses will
gladly accept carrots & apples from the kitchen.
Is there a computer I can use?
There is not a computer station, nor a printer. For guests with
their own laptops, however, there are two ethernet connections
and wireless access to broadband DSL in the Lodge.
Will my cellphone work?
Most likely yes, although you may have to experiment a bit to
find a strong signal. Verizon tends to work better and T-Mobile
tends to work less better. There is also a local landline which
you can use with your calling card.
When are you guys going to make a cookbook with all of
your great recipes?
A very popular question, and we thank you for your genuine interest
and support! A simple first edition was scheduled to be
available in June 2006, but...
Stay tuned to the website for more info...
Can my husband/wife and I enjoy a personal retreat at
Laurel Springs?
Another popular question. We are only hosting group retreats at this time. Please contact us for information on upcoming retreats.
Do you hold children's retreats?
Generally, because of safety issues on a large cliffside ranch,
we do not accept retreats for younger children. Each retreat is
considered on an individual basis, however, and you are welcome
to discuss your proposal with Kabir.
Can I have my wedding on the property?
It may not be impossible. We are extremely selective about weddings
out of respect for the grounds and facilities, and safety of guests.
If you would like to hold a ceremony with less than 50 people
and are familiar with our Philosophy,
contact
Kabir to discuss
further details.
Does that big windmill work?
The Polenko Windgeneratoren pictured on our home page was made
in the Netherlands and was one of the first electric-producing
wind generators in California, installed by Jane Fonda in 1981.
A number of factors prevent it from being used today in its original
capacity. Early design flaws, safety considerations, modern regulations,
aging and outdated machinery, and ungodly amounts of generated
noise, to name a few. It does however serve an unorthodox purpose.
Local paragliders (including our own Kabir), navigating thermal
wind currents, use it as a landmark to help guide their flights
down from nearby mountain peaks, into Santa Barbara. |
